Session 4 of a year-long collection. Every piece begins with a consultation, where we sit down, draw, and talk through each detail. I learn something new every time, from how I approach the piece to the elements and techniques I want to bring them in.
Last year’s project on his upper knees and outer shin were built with blackwork packing and bold needle, while I was still searching for my handpoke and dot work texture.
This time, the inner calf brings fine line and bold needle texture together, with delicate details in between.
Where the two waves crash into each other, last year’s bold meets this year’s fine, as one.
He gave me 100% trust and freedom. The stencil is only a guide. I follow my instinct and senses, and texture cannot be copied, because it is part of me.
Six tattoos in, he is a walking portfolio, and every piece shows my style refining and growing.
